Adelaide is an Ohio-born, Georgia-raised artist based in Atlanta. She grew up immersed in the arts but After high school obtained a degree in International Affairs in the hopes of finding her voice and affecting change through law or politics.
Through interning at the Maryland Attorney General's Office and later working at the art museum of Chianciano in Italy, she found that the most effective and fulfilling way to reach people would be through art rather than policy. Adelaide has since devoted herself to expression through painting and music. Her latest body of visual work, “Luminary,” is represented by Markay Gallery in Marietta Square, and she maintains an exclusive collection of originals at Paris on Ponce in the Poncey-Highlands neighborhood in Atlanta.
In 2017, Adelaide performed on stages across Atlanta and went on a week-long tour through the South. She will release her debut EP in 2018.
My visual work is a collection of snapshots in space and time, capturing organic movement in a state of suspension. I create layer by layer with resin, enamels, acrylics, and watercolors. The nature of the medium requires swift manipulation because once it is prepared it sets quickly and permanently. Therefore, each session, or layer, represents a period of intense focus and deliberate creation. The overall effect of these layers of manipulated tension and energy is a piece of work that evokes pure sensation - tranquility, joy, melancholy, inspiration.
